The Austin Neighborhoods
Council acts as a coordinating body for the efforts of Austin area neighborhood
groups, acts as a clearinghouse for information, gives guidance in all matters of concern to individual neighborhoods and/or the City of
Austin, and strives to make a positive contribution to Austin through the betterment of our neighborhoods and the promotion of civic
awareness. The Metropolitan Austin Interactive Network (MAIN) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to establish and operate efficiently a community-access computer network. The purpose of this network is information sharing and communication among the people and governmental, educational, commercial, cultural, religious, and civic organizations, in order to enhance lives and make the best use of community resources.
